    Oh do tell please?????
My next door neighbors pits are noisy as hell! I can't do ANY work

I inquired about that a long time ago and was told they didn't work.

I can vouch for the Dog Dazer. It saved my butt on more than a couple of
    occasions.

Of course, like some humans, there are some dogs (psycho ones) that will
just *not* stop when you hit them with something. But for the vast
majority, the Dazer works a treat.
For the others, you'd be better off carrying a gun :-)

A spray bottle of skunk oil works pretty good too. <eg>
I've used it on the neighbors dogs to keep them at least off the

Every now and again I will hear about someone's dog being
shot, come to some bad end. I think, let me guess, you left the
dog outside barking day and night and finally it drove someone
out of their mind. Always turns out I'm right.

I have no idea why people think it's okay to disturb the peace
by leaving their dog outside to annoy everyone like that. Can
drive you up the wall. I had thought of getting a device that
activates at dog hearing level to get a former neighbor's dog to
    SHUT UP.

I love the aftermath of scenes here when a dog bites someone's kid really
badly, and then the cops shoot the dog because it was still going apeshit
and trying to corner THEM when they arrived. The owners, who usually make
Jerry Springer's guests look normal, start yelling about how they're gonna
call the chief of police, and sue the city, as well as the victim's parents
because their kid had the nerve to be walking down the street. It's even
better when the dog belonged to black people. Then, they yell about how the
shooting was racially motivated, and our local mini-Al Sharpton crawls out
of his hole and makes comments to the press. It goes on for days.

A friend of mine was on vacation somewhere in PA. He let his dogs out, a nice
pair of Siberian Huskies. They saw some sheep and went running after them. The
farmer shot the dogs. It sort of spoiled their vacation.

When I was first married we lived in a basement apartment for a while. the
older couple who lived upstairs had a little poodle. You would never know that
they had a dog when they were home. But as soon as they left that mutt
started barking and never shut up until they got home.

I saw two dogs try the same thing, but their target was my son, at a boat
launch in the Adirondacks. The handgun was out and ready. I figured if I
dropped one of them, the second one would stop long to see what the hell
happened. Unfortunately, the owner stopped the dogs with some sort of
command. Then, the idiot called the NY State Police, who explained to him
that he should shut the phuque up and go away with his out of control dogs.

Ramsey woke me up early this morning. Missy decided to go outside so
I went to walk her. Not before I took a couple of eggs outta the
fridge to fry up for breakfast. When I walked out the back door there
was another beheaded rabbit. GAG... It spoiled my breakfast. I
don't know why Bart beheads the rabbits.

    Because he *wuvs* you!

Is Bart a cat? I has a cat once who brought me a mouse head every day
    - sometimes just the head, sometimes the head and shoulders. Once the
nose, only. It is a sign of affection, you know - sharing food.

    -L.

Our Miss P disdains mice as too easy, I think. She specialises in baby
possums - on one occasion still alive! After she gets them home she
tends to either behead or disembowel them, which is a bit of a bugger
    to clean up.

Rumpole is too lazy to hunt. He once dragged home an adult possum as
big as himself, but it had almost certainly died of natural causes.

I'm all in favour of cats keeping the vermin down, but I do wish they
wouldn't bring their work home to show you!

Unfortunately, they don't just kill vermin.

They are notorious for killing native wildlife as well.

This will most likely put us at odds, but I'm all in favour of cats
being registered, spayed, compulsory bell wearing, and a compulsory
    curfew of a night time.

I have a dog. She is registered, she is spayed, she is not allowed (by
law) to wander *anywhere* (except 'off leash' areas) unless she is on a
leash and I have a plastic bag with me to pick up her [censored]. If I leave
her off her lead, and let her down into the yard (unfenced) to munch on
a bone in the sun (whilst keeping an eye on her from the front deck), I
can cop a $150 fine if the council dog catcher comes past. If I'm
    walking her on a lead, and I don't have a plastic bag, it's a $75 fine.

If she is in a yard with a fence, but the gate is open..... $150 fine.

there and not make a sound. You could almost hear her thinking "What a
    bunch of [censored]!!"

Which is why when she barks of a night time, I grab a gun and a torch
    and go and investigate.

She went ballistic at 4.30am the other morning. Very cold, very dark.
Went and investigated, and she stayed on edge for about 10mins. Then she
relaxed and went back to bed. Found out later that someone was wandering

    That sounds about right.

10 years ago, some psycho [censored] took a couple of weapons and killed 35
people at Port Arthur, in Tasmania.

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200604/s1625999.htm

The Govt had a rather knee jerk reaction and decided to disarm
Australia, pay 3 times the value of the weapons to the owners and then
    destroy the weapons.

That happened to the ones that were handed back

I have two stickers on my car......

"Guns don't kill people. People kill people"

(I've never yet seen a weapon get itself up off the ground, load itself
and fire itself at a human!!)

    and

"If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns"

Now it's almost impossible to (legally) buy a weapon, and store it at
home. But the amount and variety of weapons available on the street is
    unbelievable!! Business is booming.

    And then on todays news........

I think I just lucked out when I got her as an 8 week old pup. For the
next 6&1/2 years it was just her and I living together (with a bunch of
    female 'visitors' ;-)

She knows not to stuff me around, but she also knows that I will jump in
and look after and protect her if she ever gets herself into a
'situation' where she's ganged up on. That's only happened a couple of
    times, thankfully!!
She almost killed herself trying to get out of the yard of our old place
one day,to come to my 'aid'. A wandering pack of Staffies (about 5 of
them) were ripping my neighbours little Terrier to shreds. I jumped the
fence and jumped into the middle of it. End story, I got bit a few
times, the Terrier survived (although highly traumatised!!) and Kyna
forgave me after a few days for not letting her out and into it too :-)

She doesn't much like Staffies to this day :-)

Just my opinion, but if you've worked hard enough to have a house and
a little land, you have automatically earned the right to expect some
peace & quiet. This is the tool, not some silly pet shop gadget.

A man after my own heart!! :-)

But........ does it come with a silencer? I mean to say, we don't want
to upset the neighbours with the noise now, do we??!! :-)

Thanks! I'll have to check that out.
My border collie is pretty quiet most of the time and I get on her if
    she "nuisance" barks.

My girl only barks on one occasion....... when someone (other than the
SO and me) is around the house. Then, it's two different types of barks.
If they're at the road, it's a "Woo, Woo" warning bark. If they get onto
    the property, she goes ballistic.

Haven't had any God-botherers, door to door sales people etc bothering
me for such a looooooooong time :-)

    She's a 32kg Ridgeback Bull Mastiff cross.

Wow. I just have a border collie, but nobody really trusts dogs so that
keeps solicitors and Jehovah Witlesses away from my door. My fence is
all the way around the front so you have to come into the gate to get to
    the door. <G>

She gets crated for a short period of time if
    she keeps it up.

You 'crate' her? Where do you send her to?? :-)

    Hee!
No, her "crate" is her doghouse on the front covered porch. It has a
cage door and I'll just close that to discipline her.

    I never hit my dog......

A spray bottle of skunk oil works pretty good too. <eg>
I've used it on the neighbors dogs to keep them at least off the
    fenceline.

Hmmmmmmm, and where does one buy skunk oil....... or do you milk your
    own?

    On line.
    Where else? <G>

It can be googled for from hunting supplies...
Even as well packaged as it comes, you know when you get the box...
