Bibs or shorts

Can someone tell me what the purpose wearing a bib is compared to
wearing ridding shorts? I need to pick up a new pair and I'm not sure
if I should go with a bib or shorts.

Thanks,

Javier

I my self like the Bibs.If you have any kind of gut? They fit better In my
opion .The Ones with a mesh upper are cool in summer.I have a pair of Bib
tights and the almost cover 1/2 my chest for winter riding.
My 2 cents.

As I approach medicare/medicad, and most of me is migrating towards my
equator, I find that bib shorts are far more comfortable.

The bands don't roll up with the bibs, and help keep the middle in!

I have seen pro riders and almost all of them wear bib shorts, so don't
refer to them as "old man shorts".

YMMV
Yada, yada, yada!

With bibs, if you have a gut it cradles same - there's no elastic waistband for
it to hang over.

With bibs, you're a little warmer (good on some days, bad on others).

With bibs, taking a leak can be a little more of a production for some people,
although I don't find it an issue.

With bibs, you always have the option of not engaging the shoulder straps - just
tuck them into the waist a little and let the shirt cover it.

I've got three of each. When I first got bibs, I wore them most of the time.
Now that the novelty's worn off, I think it's more like 4:1 regular:bibs.

Someone once told me that bibs are more popular because there's no
waistband to affect your breathing.

Anyone else heard this?

The bibs I have are cut low enough in front so that the hem
can be pulled down past the groin.

I like the shoulder straps for keeping the pad exactly in place.

Have not heard it. Have experienced it.

The solution is change technique. Pull up one of the legs rather than
trying to pull down the front.

Pull an arm out of the jersey and drop one strap.

How frikkin' high do you pull up your shorts, that the waistband
affects your breathing???? I'm picturing an old man w/ shorts pulled
up to his nipples, and black socks w/ sandals.

Experienced the unrestricted breathing that bib shorts afford.
