Giant TCR Composite with triple crank?

Has anyone put a triple crank on a Giant TCR Composite? I've read some
posts dated 2003 that says Giant doesn't recommend it. Giant says the
chainstay is too short causing chain rub when shifting into the granny.
If someone really wanted to use a triple on the TCR what would have to
be done?
