I have a set of the very last generation (1997) Campagnolo Athena 8-speed hubs, built into very
light wheels for my summer bike. (Well, very light apart from the 8-speed rear hub, which seems to
have been made by recycling a very shiny boat anchor.)

I also need some new wheels for my winter bike, and there is a deal where I can get them with the
*current* 9-speed Mirage hubs (the ones with cartridge bearings rather than cup and cone).

If I bought these wheels, could I swap bits between the Mirage and Athena hubs to change the Athena
to 9-speed and the Mirage to 8-speed, or have other things changed which make this impossible?

Thanks

Marco

No, the Mirage uses a unique to cart bearing axle and freehub, and will not fit onto the Athena
axle,, which is a cup and cone only.
