Has anyone done any touring somewhere in Europe or Asia during this time? I'm taking vacation from Nov-Dec and just got my custom Sycip road bike. Also, tell me your experience to choose what tour company? Thanks...

Sounds like the perfect time to visit New Zealand.
Its a really easy country to tour in with a large amount of backpacker accomodation and camping.
Try Lonely Planets Cycling New Zealand for ride info and http://www.bbh.co.nz/ for accomodation info. We used these and found them to be great.
Don't use a tour company. NZ poses no problems for organising your own rides and you'll meet lots of other cyclists doing the same thing.

Here is good site that rates the "top 25 places in the world" to tour: http://www.ridetheroad.com/best.aspx that will give you some ideas.

Here is another site that describes tour companies and costs:
http://www.biketour-reviews.com/bike_chart.htm

I also run a boutique tour company. Unfortunately, I offer no road bike tours in Nov/Dec. My site is http://www.farandawaycycling.com. However I would be happy to help you in anyway I can.

I found the "ridetheroad" website just after I posted my last comment. It was very interesting to read their experiences in the different countries. Laos sounds like a good place to go.
I had a look at your website and your prices seem pretty good. Not our cup of tea as we like to set our own pace, but everyone is different. When we were in France a few weeks ago our costs a day were about 50euro's a day. This included camping, a few espressos, a nice meal in a restuarant with a pichet of wine, pastries and snacks. We would normally eat out for lunch and cook dinner at camp.

Cheers

Hi Geoff --

You are doing really well to get by with 50 euro's a day even with camping. I just returned from Corsica. You might look at that next time you contemplate France. It's a great place to ride and there are places to camp there. It's not on the "Ride the Road" list, but I am sure it will be if the Blommer's ever go there.

Hi Bob
Great to hear that you had fun in Corsica.
All things going well we will be back in France for 2007. Where did you go and what were your costs for Corsica? Where you camping? How long were you there for and what was the weather like.

Cheers

Geoff --

Just noticed your post. I did two tours back to back in Corsica. One went around the top half the island, the other around the entire island. We did not camp but there are campsites. It is not an inexpensive place to ride. I would say comparable to mainland France. The spectacular nature of the place makes it worth it. Spring and Fall are best times to go May/June and Sept/Oct.
