Those are awesome! Thanks for putting those up.

For those of us who are somewhat new to the sport. It's good to see some old races.

yes I have the 86 giro.. They are tougher because each stage is a race unto itself.. That is why it is hard to post TDF, Coors Classics and Giros..

Please, if you have it, post M-R the year Sean Kelly caught Argentin on the descent of the Pagio. That could possibly be the best finish to a world cup ever.

Here's how it went down.

Kelly was regarded as past his prime with Mareno Argintin considered the new world cup master of the peloton and was tipped to win the opening race of the season. It looked like he might, going clear just before the Poggio and opening up his lead over the climb. Kelly, wearing a horrendous fruit-bowl-size pink helmet for which I hope he was paid generously for, was near the front of the group at the top of the final climb. Kelly descended like an escaped mental patient and caught Argentin shortly after the 1-k kite. Argentin looked over his should and did a double take. He flicked his elbow. Kelly looked over his shoulder to see he had enough time over the chase and waited, and waited and drilled the Italian at 200 meters.

Best world cup race ever and Kelly is definitely in the pantheon of cycling gods. With 193 wins, he is second only to Eddy in that category. His palmares compare with all the greats. He won everywhere: stages in the tour, vuelta, world cups, grass crits, velodrome, a GT, LBL twice, PR twice... it didn't matter. Kelly ranks as one of the top five of all time and after you see him win MR that year, you'll be convinced too.
