"Discovery Channel climber Manuel Beltran suffered a significant setback in
his preparation for the Vuelta a España when he was in collision with a
motorbike on Sunday. Beltran was training with a group of nine other riders
near his home town of Jaen in southern Spain when the incident took place."

....

"Beltran has only just returned to training after crashing heavily in the
Alps during the Tour de France and being forced to abandon the race with
concussion. "I usually train without a helmet, but since the fall at the
Tour I have started using one. ******* Now I am never going to be without
one, ******** " said Beltran, whose helmet was severely damaged in the
incident."

That same article had an interesting turn of phrase:
"Five of the cyclists were not involved in the incident, and one of
them grabbed the motorcyclist by the collar to remonstrate with him."

I didn't realize remonstrate could mean "punch in the face repeatedly",
but that's obviously what was meant.

remonstrate
v 1: argue in protest or opposition 2: present and urge reasons in
opposition [syn: point out] 3: censure severely or angrily; "The mother
scolded the child for entering a stranger's car"; "The deputy ragged
the Prime Minister"; "The customer dressed down the waiter for bringing
cold soup" 4: to punch repeatedly in the face [a convincing debate
technique utilized while reasoning with road hogs or waiters that bring
cold soup]

I stand corrected.

This is RBR. You can tell us what he really said, without the asterisks.

We are talking about pro cyclists. Getting slugged by them is usually called
"spoke harshly." "Remonstrate" means he must've really given it his all.

I seem to recall some riders remonstrating with each other in the giro a
few years ago.
