Im a student, and dont have much money to spend. I also dont compete in cycling, although i do really enjoy it, so i dont think i need to worry about how fast i can go with a specialst race bike like some people. That said im fed up of my slow mountain bike and now its broken anyway, so what the hell, time for a new old bike :p

My local bike shop has a nice looking old one in stock for £70, it looks very old but good quality and in a racing setup. Thing is i know nothing about bikes and was wondering what to look out for. I usually cycle on country lanes, but also on dirt paths, cannal paths e.c.t. What kind bike would be best for me? how do i know if its a good bike, and where else is a good place for a quality second hand bike? im prefectly happy to fix / assemble if need be

The bike is an old 80's Peugeot roadbike, steel frame but quite light, is it any good? or should i look for a better deal?
