Lance Competitive in Kona Tri World Championships Dave Scott doesn't thinks so!

Very amazing indeed, I have been lucky enough to witness this on two occasions.

Everyone should witness cycling live - I saw Lance and co riding the Aime to Cluses stage some years back and WOW the speed these guys tear up the hills is phenomenal. What made it worse was that there was a 4 man break and the peleton was in "holding" mode - would have loved to be at one of the hilltop finishes where the afterburners are really firing. I guess I'll have to go back :)

As for Lance - if he was a professional triathlete from the start I think he would be among the best the world has ever seen. He just doesn't have the years of acclimitisation and specialisation that Alexander, Lieto and co have.

uhm, like hello. he has 78 yellow of the toughest in the the world earned jerseys along with eight tour dominations. yes, i said eight. and he was spanking Mike Pigg's and the likes top in the world PRO triathlete weak **** by the age of 17 or 18, giving them hell at 15.

I honestly do not believe that it has to only do with 'sports' when it comes to his domination, that's the commoner's mistake to believe.

and his specialization is breathing as in to live.

Ok I give up - because Lance was a pro triathlete 22 years ago and has lungs he can win Tri World Champs.

Either you're one of those head in sand americans that believe that you read on the side of a gatorade bottle or the most competitive cycling you've done is to the shop and back to buy said gatorade. If you'd cycled/competed at ANY appeciable level you'd know and understand that it takes more than lungs, determination and a closet full of yellow jerseys to conquer "the longest day".

umm, you are off your nut.

armstrong was in yellow 83 days which puts him well behind eddy (111, not to count eddy's giro & vuelta & world championship jerseys) and only four yellows in front of the badger. he won seven tdf's and to claim dominance in last year's is insulting to the tour's winner, contador. further lance rode more than just those eight and truly sucked hind *** before his "recovery" from cancer. and as for time trial dominance? in all of his trips around france, he is tied for third with anquetil.

i'd truly enjoy seeing armstrong having some of these athletes take lance's lunch money and push him around the playground if only to shutter this discussion.

i am off my nut or so everyone keeps telling me but i meant as in overall yellow jerseys per stage earned and worn. and if that is 83 than so be it, i never really follow every move and Contador who? never heard of her.

and on the topic of Kona and triathletes, man oh man was i way off in attempting to communicate with the the inner strengths of humanity with those people. i honestly can't believe it but Anything is Possible turned out to just be a phrase, nothing special about it whatsover amongst triathletes themselves. sad. i guess i shoulda been born with money but than again, it'da not been in me to want to believe in it if i was.

humanity as we know it is such a waste.

Pou-Pou, I don't agree with what you're saying but it's worthwhile, relevant, and I understand it. Thanks for jumping in.

former NATIONAL road champion? let's be honest here and no matter what anyone says about taking the time to train, he's probably more than already overtrained as is. the swim i'd have to bet he can already do and lead out with the pro's in the one hour slot, burn everyone in the bike and by far as in catastrophicaly ending the bike time course record and then pretty much sleep walk to the finish line. I do believe that he's gonna put too much time between him and anyone else around on the bike for them to catch up to him on foot, try as they might.

It's Big Lance Armstrong, read below.
+1. Lance will take the 112-mile bike by 30 minutes at least. Look what he did to the Leadville field. Complete destruction of mountain bike specialists. He'll only lose a little to the favs in the swim, and perhaps 20 minutes in the run.

hello friend, have i met you on another forum perhaps because there was this one guy who was just as smart as the two of us. rare, huh? :D anywho, it's my pleasure.

and those twenty minutes in the run will be more than enough time to keep the lead. Macca has made up something like nine minutes in the run from a ten minute bike lead off off of Alexander but it was only enough to get second so if Big Lance is off of the bike first with a somewhere in the realm of 15-20 to possibly 25 -30 minute head start i'd have to guess it's over by the end of the bike leg for all involved. The battle for second will be worth watching though...

He might just break the overall bike course record by 30+ minutes but he will not be one of the first pro's out of the water so that is what we have to take into consideration. If he's out of the water even 10 minutes (that's a serious stretch of time after the first people out of the water, it'll be more than likely somewhere along the lines of 2-5 minutes max but I'm taking the worst possible scenerio) after Macca or Alexander and he gets twenty minutes on them in the bike with a bike course record being broken by thirty minutes by him as he'll be averaging 2-3 mph(not sure of what that comes out in terms of catching up and taking a lead over 112 miles, I'm guessing) faster than the rest and sustain it the entire time he'll still have the only shot at the win come the run if he can keep a somewhere in the range of a 2:50 marathon. Now for him, I'll be willing to bet that albeit he will be tired, he will have recovered some on the bike while taking the rest out enough so as he can do just that and if he really trains, i'd have to think he can better his new york marathon time @ Kona after coming fom the bike by a few minutes and at the young and ripe age of 40. He was after all, core and temp training there last week. Seen the vid? He's flying down the Kona trailways faster than I've seen any world triathlete go. Granted it's not a full course or anything but it's just scary fast. Come Kona, he will do that the entire ride. It's flat, its' not Alp d'Huez. It's an island, not a mountain. It's not just some triathlete, it's Big Lance Armstrong and the world will weep that day.

I'd have to bet that he will have to be off of and is planning on being off of the bike 25-30 minutes ahead of everyone so as to keep the lead until the end. some of those marathoners can move and he knows that. and via tactis, the bike leg is where he has to win...and will.

Lance won Leadville in no small part because he recruited a team to force the pace leading to the main climb. They used road-style team tactics to burn up the field, something that had never been done quite so effectively in mountain bike racing.

Frankly, I'd have been more impressed if Lance had stayed in Europe to be a factor in some late-season classics and the Worlds.

i want proof of that teams existance and it's efforts to help him.

Big Lance shot off the front with NO ONE giving chase and by no one i mean no on one from this ghost team that you claim he had or the the likes of weins or any other pro mountain biker. 20 minutes ahead of everyone else is when he finished and the last few miles were on a flat rear tire too so it coulda been a few minutes quicker. and he fell, once....i think.

that's nothing more than big balls. with or without this supposed team , he'd a won and in the same amount of time. you saying any different is, well, you know you're wrong and just being argumentative for no real reason.

btw oldbobcat, i've yet to bare witness to any cycling team lead the way for all of 20 out of 100 miles so as only one teamate to go solo for the rest. i wanna see proof of what you said earlier because that's the first time i've ever heard anyone say anything like that. it's ridiculous and you have no proof.
