I have a 2011 Scott s30 with the tiagra group set. Only exceptions are that my rear derailleur is a 105 and my crankset is a SRAM rival. I don't really know where do start upgrading but I was thinking either my wheels (which are Alex race28 rims) or maybe my front derailleur to match my rear. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

While being a very nice ride for its price point, any bike based on the S30 frame is not something I'd put a lot of money into. My upgrade sequence is things that are broken and found deficient, contact points (saddle, handlebar, pedals), things that can be transferred to a new bike (which is contact points plus wheels), and finally running gear.

Really, if everything is working as it should, treat the bike to a thorough cleaning, fresh handlebar tape, and some nicer tires. And save your money for a CR1.
