Mmmm, have heard varying reports about them. Probably better off having
a well set up saddle, adjust the head stem, bars etc to distribute your
weight. Also have a frame size appropriate to your dimensions. What do
the rest of you think?

That depends.
If you ride sitting up high, on a mtb/hybrid, on rough ground,
riding gently, then they are good.

If you are bending forward, weight on handlebars, you will not
need it. And certainly not for racing :)

Yes, if you get a good one, which applies to most things in
life when you think about it.
