The weight loss challenge

As I anticipated, I smashed through the 73kg barrier and this morning weighed in at 72.6kg.
Isn't it amazing what you can do with a fixed goal? I don't know how much more weight I can lose before Mt. Charleston in September, but I'm hoping I will look like one of those emaciated cyclists people talk about in this forum.:p

Nice work mate! I need to get back on the weight loss bandwagon

News years resolution was to get myself back into the low 70ish kgs and cycling power better than its every been. Been fairly slow steady progress with improved diet and the ramping up of cycle training, which as of last month is now 5 days a week, should see me get my weight down and power up in time for spring (September) when I'll start having a go at the local club criterium racing.

83.1 kg - 4th January 2010
74.6 kg - 17 May 2010
19 weeks = 0.45 kg per week.
Goal is 70kg, so maybe another 9 weeks should do it.

May 6: 174 lbs (78.9 kg)
Current (May 19): 170.5 lbs (77.3 kg)
Goal: 155 lbs (68 kg)

adding some error bars for water weight 174 + or - 1 to 170.5 + or - 1 = between 5.5 and 1.5 lbs in 2 weeks.
I'll hope it's 2 lbs in 2 weeks and not something more drastic.

25lbs lost ( 172 lbs) and counting...

As long as I don't go really hard in training it really doesn't seem all that difficult.

First off, you guys are LIGHT...

January 2010: 226 lbs (I used to walk at 185lbs... got slammed in practice MMA, broke 7 ribs and was out for 7 months of doing any physical activity)

May 21, 2010: 197.6 lbs, that's 28.4lbs so far

Bike 5x/week, swim 3x /week, run 2x /month I hate running.

My goal would be to drop to 175-180.

Lots of weight lost by the last 4 posters - well done guys, keep it up.

This morning I was down to 72.1kg. Should break through the 72kg barrier this week hopefully.;)

March 12 - 189lbs
May 26 - 167lbs

Breaking the 170lb barrier was tough for me. Problem is...my cycling muscles are getting stronger, bigger and maybe weighing me down? ha. I'll take that....

I want to lose another 5lbs of fat. but gain some muscle. I think I'll be happy if I maintain a trim and strong 165lb.

Some of my old clothes fit again.....wooohhooo! and the wife wanted me to get rid of them....silly!

LOL About a month ago I bought a pair of tight fitting jeans from GAP, now I have to wear a belt to keep them up they're so loose. Couldn't care less if they fell down to my ankles.:D

Dec 12, 2009 -163 lbs. Then the holidays, vacation, off the bike for a month, argh.
Jan 12, 2010 -167 lbs. Back on the trainer for structured intervals.
Feb 10, 2010- 166lbs. Now riding 4-5days a week. Just can't stay away from the calories. Need more discipline to reach my goal of 155 by June.
Really slow progress here:
April 5, 2010 - 165.1 lbs
April 26, 2010 - 164 lbs
May 10, 2010 - 162.3 lbs
May 24, 2010 - 159.3 lbs.

Still a few pounds away from 155 lbs. I don't see myself losing as fast as some have posted here, but making better nutrition choices always helps.

Tried shaving your head yet?? could be some free lbs there?? JK. Clipping some long toe nails could be a few grams??

Nothing wrong with slow and steady.

In my case. I had plenty of extra winter weight that lucky enough for me, was easy to drop.

PS....My training times have DROPPED! so nice to see progress. I've dropped about 3mins off my 10k time since March. weight and fitness goes a long way.

Today topped the scales at exactly 71.5kg!! Am over the moon.:)

Anyway, boys and girls, that is the last time I post my weight before I set off for Las Vegas, Mt. Charleston and meet the great RapDaddyo in September.

Mustn't reveal all my weapons to the enemy..:p

Keep on slimming guys!

Hi guys, I've been gone for a while. Got "pudgy" and then found a reason to start taking control again. 10 mile TT race locally June 19th. For me, seems I need a reason. Being healthy ain't good enough. :D

I found out about the race around January and said, I'm gonna do it, and kick ass, DON'T CARE THAT I'M 46... JUST KICK ASS. I weighed 208. been doing light aerobic work and eating better. Our weather is so bad, that still, today May 30th, I've only had about 7 days outside to ride when it wasn't 50mph winds, raining, or anything above 45 degrees.

I have a hard time motivating myself to go out in anything less than 65 degree weather. Bought some gear and actually went out a few times when it was 45-48 degrees. Wasn't all that bad actually.

Today, am at 171, with a goal to ride the race (20 days out) at 165. been tough training and eating enough to REALLY perform. Been doing hard cardio now for about 10 weeks. Lot of interval stuff and work to get re-acquainted with my various "thresholds". It's all changed since 2005-2006.

Put my old SNES Computrainer off to the side and rather than upgrade it with every single part... I just ordered a new one and have been using it for about a week. Got a 32" flat screen and am running it off my lap top. I forgot how much you sweat indoors without the wind on you. Makes you feel like you're really killing it. I like that. I bought a bunch of fans, and that helps a lot.

Anywho, thanks for still being here. I still train only by myself up here in Montana, so you guys are my only sounding board. And you still motivate me, and I appreciate it. :)

January 2010: 208 lbs
May 30,2010: 171 lbs (down 37 pounds)
June 18 goal: 165 lbs.

I'M ALMOST THERE!!!! I haven't been 165 since high school. I think I won the biggest race of my life at age 41 at 174-175 lbs. so I'm looking forward to the weight reduction. Sad part is, when I was 41, i could put out 270 watts all day long. Looks like I'm down to 200 in my "less trained" condition at this time.

Keep motivated, and thanks for being here. :)

Good job you guys!!

It's cool to read through the posts every week or so and see how much you all have improved. Keep up the good work!

May 6: 174 lbs (78.9 kg)
May 19: 170.5 lbs (77.3 kg)
June 2: 167.0 lbs (75.7kg)
Goal: 155 lbs (68 kg)

allowing for water weight 174 + or - 1 to 167 + or - 1 = between 9 and 5 lbs in 4 weeks. Looks like around 1.5lbs/week or so.

Cycling is a really a good exercise for a weight reduce,it's really a helpful for all and no other side affect are there it's naturally exercise that help out in reduce a weight,I think all like and do cycling mostly, people like mostly.

Thought I'd join in the fun here. I've lost 15 pounds this year so far. Weighed in at 186 this morning and would like to be down to 170 by the end of August. So that gives me 12 weeks to lose 16 pounds...Let the challenge begin!

I found a great way to temporarily lose weigh on the bike. Ride 200 miles over some sizeable hills, barf a couple of times and restrict food/drink so that couple doesn't become a few...

Not sure what caused it though... Hmmmm. Although I now know that barf splatter sounds the same at 8500ft as it does near sealevel. ;)

May 6: 174 lbs (78.9 kg)
May 19: 170.5 lbs (77.3 kg)
June 2: 167.0 lbs (75.7 kg)
June 19: 164.1 lbs (74.4 kg)
Goal: 155 lbs (68 kg)

allowing for water weight 174 + or - 1 to 164 + or - 1 = between 12 and 8 lbs in 6.5 weeks. Still around 1.5lbs/week or so.

Update:

6/12/10: 183 lbs

I gained 5 lbs this weekend from overeating A LOT  but I think a lot of it is water weight from high sodium intake. Anyway, I'm back on the wagon and making the push down to 179 by mid next week (6/30).
