Are Rockshox Judy and SID parts cross compatable?

Heard a rumour that you can bolt a SID directly to a Judy fork crown /
steerer assembly.

Reason: Tiny good friend with great hard tail Bontragger MTB wants to
upgrade her fork. Problem; 1" steerer.....

Current shock, old Rock Shox Judy, (yellow)

If this works for the oldies as well, are there date of manufacturer
issues?

Yup.

You're not the first with this issue.

Earlier SIDs were definitely compatible with Judies. I don't know about
the later ones -- they may still be.

A more common mod is to use the lighter SID crown/steerer/stanchion
assembly with more reliable Judy lowers, with steel springs and a White
Bros. or Risse cartridge. Actually this is what I would use, instead of
switching to a SID. It's smoother, with better damping, especially for a
lighter rider, and dead reliable. I have an extra 3" travel White Bros.
cartridge if you're interested.

Another good upgrade is an older Marzocchi B2, another great fork for a
light rider, also available with a 1" steerer.

As the owner of 3 Bontragers (and a Ritchey P-20, also 1") I am
somewhat familiar with this issue. The early SIDs were available with
a 1" steerer and these sometimes turn up on eBay--be prepared for some
spirited bidding as they are popular. As others pointed out Marzocchi
continues to supply 1" forks. Besides the ones Cambria lists I
believe you can special-order some other models with a 1" steerer.

As to your specific question, I've never seen a SID with a pinch-bolt
crown, only the cryo-fit or whatever they call it. So the question is
how will you get the stantions out of the SID crown?
