The S-2200 uses shimano 2200 down bar shifters. 3*8 24 speed setup. The frame is not so bad or heavy at all (about 2kg with headset). The 2200 stuff is okay too- other than the shifters the SORA stuff is not much different really.

Shimano is making a 2200 level STI unit now so we should seeing STI becoming much more available.

Lots of racers don't look to kindly on road bikes as commuters, but i find the narrow bars fit through traffic a bit easier then the flat bars.
