How much does your bike weigh?

Rotator-Phil; My bike weighs 34 pounds with pannier rack. It is a Rotator Pursuit 48 speed. I carry a trunk bag with tools weighing about five pounds. I usually carry a pannier bag with various weight gloves and for stuffing layers of clothing. We ride in most weather conditions.

Lightest unusual part is AX-Lightness CF brake calipers @ 140gms for pair. The remainder of the components were more traditional but well chosen combinations (e.g. Campy Record brake/shifters with FSA Compact Pro with American Classic BB ).
The frame is a combination of 853 inner triangle with CF stays (Muscle) and fork (Sub 3) built to my size, long legs shorter torso by Curtis Inglis. Curtis is a local Napa Valley craftsman who does it the old fashioned way. You can see his site at Ingliscycles.com. Look especially at the retrotec bikes if you want something unique.

All these ultra-light bikes out there - do people actually ride them like that? I find that a rack, lights, pump, maybe a pannier and some tools, soon turn a respectable 11 kg bike into something over 13 kg (29 lbs). So really we need one set of results for racers and another for everyday cyclists.
Trek 5900 road race bike: 16 lbs
Trek 5200 road training bike: 18 lbs
Trek 9.8 mountain bike: 20 lbs
At the end of the day it all comes back to what we need vs what we want! I race XC mountain bikes at national level in the UK and as such wanted the lightest mountain bike i could get my hands on! The road bike(s) are just an extravagance, although summer road races prove to be invaluable training for the mountain biking, just get out and ride!
