Here is Jimbo trying to be both nasty and witty. However, anyone but me
notice how he continually falls flat in both of those aspects. I think it is
because he is so in earnest all the time - like a teenager kid. Poor Jimbo
does not ever have a clue about anything. A very sad case, indeed!

Mr. Vandeman posts a huge amount of original material, but like the smart
man he is, he does not waste a lot of words responding to the mostly idiots
who respond to him. Jimbo could learn a lot by following the posting style
and content of those who are his superiors instead of hissing like a snake
in the grass all the time.

If there is anyone more tiresome in all of Usenet than Jimbo, I have yet to
encounter such a one. All he has ever done from day one is whine about his
betters and drone on about he just might be their equal, Unfortunately for
him, the only way he can prove it is by posting lots of original material
like Mr. Vandeman does.

So to summarize the facts regarding trail impact:

1. No scientific studies show that mountain bikers cause more wear to
trails than other users.

2. Hooves and feet erode more than wheels.

3. No significant difference between hiking and biking trail wear.

4. Minimal change from repeated bicycle passage.

5. Hiking and bicycling trample vegetation at equal rates.

6. Hiking and biking cause roughly the same impact to large mammals,
though in some cases hikers have more impact.

7. Hikers have more impact on bald eagles.

8. Bicyclists, because they travel faster, and more quietly than hikers,
are more likely to encounter bears (no doubt this will make MV happy!).

Anyway, the bottom line is that no one has shown any evidence that
bicycle impact on trails and wildlife is worse than hiker impact, and in
fact, in some cases the hikers have more impact on wildlife, due to
there tendency to be noisier and to travel through an area less quickly.

I do not give a damn about impact on trails, but I do give a damn about
conflicts of interests. Mountain bikers are slobs and hikers are highly
evolved spiritual beings who do not even belong in the same universe as
mountain bikers. What the hell else do you ever need to know?

Repeating those lies won't make them true. I refuted them all long
ago: http://home.pacbell.net/mjvande/scb7. Of course, you already knew

Mike, this is the kind of **** that goes on all the time on ARBR. I have
gotten so used to it that it is like water off a duck's back. Truth to tell,
I do not even notice it any more, but I respond to the likes of Jimbo so he
won't feel any worse than he already does. I am just too soft hearted I

Vandy is the one doing the cross posting. If you want to bich about

Yes. You need quote at least one source that is accurate.

Hmm, after Dolan's response, it seems clear that he's simply been
trolling. I think that he posts just to make MV look bad.

Foster is a total idiot. It does not matter to me what he does in real life.
On these newsgroups, he defends mountain biking on hiking trails. That is
all I ever have to know about him.

If anyone is trolling on these newsgroups, it is Curtiss and Foster. We all
know where the hell they stand on the issues. They never post anything new
or worthwhile whereas Mr. Vandeman does post such new and worthwhile
information all the time. SMS needs to step back and take a closer look at
who is doing what.

Are you sure you want to be indentified with Jimbo? He is a pathetic figure
who at least had the guts to do battle with Ed Gin, the most notorious
criminal vandal troll ever to infect ARBR. Everyone felt sorry for him
because Ed Gin was such a scoundrel, but Jimbo does not know how to relate
to anyone who is not a scoundrel. Hang in there Foster as I think you will
soon qualify yourself. Just keep telling Jimbo that he is great and you will
be OK, but the minute you tell him that he is not great, he will whine and
carry on like a school girl. You have been warned!

The one thing you both have going for you is that you are a couple of
half-wits who are incapable of a good rejoinder, something that Vandeman and
I do all the time on a regular basis. Jimbo and Foster, half-witted sexual
innuendoes - yea, that is as good as it is ever going to get with them!
Once a jarhead, always a jarhead apparently!

By the way, I now believe you are lying about your Ph.D. in electrical
engineering. There is just no way anyone as stupid as you could possibly
have any higher degrees. Even Curtiss is occasionally able to say something
that indicates he has some intelligence, but not you. I doubt you even have
a high school diploma?

Mr. Vandeman has his groups that he regularly posts to. I added to those
groups, not him. I added ARBR and RBM because I wanted to enliven those
groups with new members, but instead all we got was this monomaniacal
posting on mountain biking on hiking trails The subject interests me
somewhat, but it does not interest any others on the new groups that I
added. Who knew that all the old groups were just into this single subject
with a few posters to it like you, Curtiss and Vandeman?

I am not a one note Johnny and I do not want one note Johnnies on ARBR and
RBM. I wish RBS could be better than it is, but it will need new members for
it to ever improve. I feel that most of what is posted on this subject
should only be on AMB. It surely does not need to be on RBS as much as it
is.

I believe I will shortly be leaving RBS for good as I require a larger
universe of members to tweak. You and Curtiss are not worth my time and
effort any longer. I will only look in on RBS to see what Mr. Vandeman is
posting. The one newsgroup I can always be found on is ARBR although I
occasionally go slumming on other groups.

No, you are right. Mountain bikers can only be pitied. They are their
own worst enemies, although they think it's we two. :)
