It is hard to keep track of them all as they are scattered about the house
in various rooms. One of these days I will count them - just for you!

I never married because I never wanted any children (damn their little
bugger souls anyway). If you are married, please inform this newsgroup why
you married. We need to know!

That's pretty rediculous, Mark. Everyone associated with the MI bunch knows
that assult weapons and explosives were the province of a certain red neck

Word is deDipshit is employed by BROL to hunt down and kill Johnny NoCom, Ed Gin, Kevin and JimmyMac. They are the 4 most dangerous recumbent outlaws of all time.

Loss of free speech, banning and murder. I can only imagine what happens next when someone disagrees with the lemmings at little Stalins web site.

Hey Larry. I'm laughing. Are you laughing too?

How many brol emoticon smiley head things would you give this post?

And for Slow Joe: This post has received the ARBR Parental Seal of Approval
for Good Natured Monkey Fun. Even so we still advise parental discretion.
So please check the emoticon rating Bryan has given this post.

You don't seem to get it. Emoticons are not the property of 'BentRider
Online; they've been in use for quite a while now. And they're not used in any
sort of rating system, but by the poster to indicate intent.
Why is it that you people hate 'BentRider Online so much? When people
complain about the content of posts here, they're usually told one thing: don't
read them! Going along with 'free speech', is the concept of 'freedom of
choice'. If you think BROL is so damned awful, then why read it? If you think
Bryan Ball and I are so horrible, then here's a clue: killfile us, or manually
skip over anything we post! Is that so difficult?
Yes, things will be difficult until the GC gets back from his California
trip. But that doesn't mean you have to resort to reading BROL, does it? If
it's as bad as you seem to think it is, take a tip from Nancy Reagan: just say no.

It's not bad Larry. There's a time and place for BROL. Lot's of interesting
threads ans some well written and considered posts, but overall the tone of
the place is ultimately set by the owner/moderator and staff. And the tone
is unctuous blather from a few toadys who have to **** on every thread and
leave their mark whether the topics are about going fast as hell,
differential equations about rubber coefficients or breast feeding while
riding a tricycle. Getting into the place is kinda like walking past the
perfume counter in a department store and MI was like walking into the
locker room after a hard workout and getting a towel snapped at your ass. MI
is gone and after a dose of trying to give straight lost souls at BROL some
good advice and laughing at the smarmy **** Cle and Pete post we'd go to MI
and vent. Really quite cathartic, and during the original gig there was some
incredibly brilliant satire. Stuff you and your boss at Bry aren't up to in
style or content.

You take things too seriously, Larry. That is if that is actuall your name
and not some net ruse. But you ride the ride. You do those long miles. You
do Kamikaze product testing...does your S.O. know about your reckless
bahavior? Does Bry cover you with a blanket health/workmens comp insurance
plan when you pull dangerous **** like slamming on a rear disk brake on a
shoddily built and largely untested tricycle.

Speaking about tricycles, does Zach spell them trycicles?

Larry, if that is your name, after you get that big shot of adrenaline after
escaping from a crash and burn do you pull off the road and masterbate?

Your friend Al, lighten up and you'll live a lot longer and get laid more

I never read BROL and I have no opinion about it one way or the other.
However, I do have an opinion on Bryan Ball. He is the character who thinks
it is just fine to have lots of liberal ranting and raving on ARBR since
according to him most cyclists are liberals. That is the one and only thing
I have against him.

I also think Larry Varney does not give enough credit to the accumulated
wisdom of mankind. He wants to think through everything for himself and he
wants to base what he thinks on his own personal experiences. That is the
one and only thing I have against him.

Like I said, I NEVER read BROL. I am strictly an ARBR man. What goes on here
stays here as far as I am concerned.

Dolan, read what I write, OK? I have never said that I want to base what I
think on my own person experience ONLY. But I do think that we have a brain for
a reason, and that is to use it. To just stick it in neutral and never try to
make decisions based on what we have actually learned from personal experience,
is really a waste.
And speaking of a waste: trying to reason with you is a prime example. You
do not stand behind anything you have said previously, you do not disagree
based on anything I have actually written, and you lie when you make claims as
to what I have said.

You know, I actually started reading your post thinking it was going to be a
sensible piece of work about why some people hate BROL. Instead, it's the same
tire, pathetic **** that the juveniles among us try to pass off as "humor".
And, the same gutless cowardice of hiding behind fake names and "untraceable"
accounts.
There are some things that I do take seriously. I don't think it's funny to
call anyone's wife a *****, for instance. Apparently you do, or else you just
don't have the guts to come out and tell your fellow simians that they've
crossed the line.
I will say one thing, though: if you don't like the atmosphere at BROL,
that's perfectly OK - you don't have to. And if you think "satire" is what was
on MI, then by all means, that's your right. No one is forcing you to read, or
not read, anything.
And maybe if you come out from behind your mask, maybe we might actually be
friends. But isn't it funny how so many of the MI crowd hide their identities?
Who can blame them?

Since the subject has come up, Certain people have ALLEGED that their
posts were censored on BROL for being critical of certain products. [1]
It should be noted that this is an occupational hazard - I expect every
publication that reviews commercial products has been accused of
favoring advertisers.

The issue is not what is posted by BROL staff on
alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent; it is the actions of the BROL message board
moderators. Moderation of discussion forums is a form of censorship,
even if done with pure intentions. This is a no-win situation for the
moderator, as I expect the BROL staff has discovered. It is precisely
why Seth Jayson decided not the moderate the second incarnation of
Monkey Island.

The consensus of opinion is that when Nancy Reagan lived in Hollywood,
she was very poor at "just saying no" to "sausage".

[1] I have no opinion on this, not have followed the BROL message board
closely.

No one has had their posts on BROL censored for being critical of any
products. Any censorship is done if the posts are obscene, personal attacks,
those sorts of things. Anyone who claims otherwise, well, until they provide
evidence, it's just their word, right? And since (I suspect) that those people
making those claims, do not have the nerve to actually use their own names when
they post, well, you make up your own mind about how true these unverifable
claims are.
And you're wrong about moderation of a message board being a no-win
situation. Check out how many people post here, as compared to the number on
BROL. See the reactions of most people, when given the choice between civilized
places where they can post, and read the posts of others, without having to put
up with a constant assault of sexual "humor", obscenities, and so on.
Some people seem to like obscenities. Some people like to insult each other.
Some people like to post homosexual attacks on people they don't know. Some
people like to refer to the wives of others as whores. And some people are
gutless cowards, who will not say to the people who do these things: this has
crossed the line.
But hey, it's up to you which group of people you prefer to be with.

Just one quick note: First, contrary to Ed Gin's delusions, I have
absolutely nothing to do with BROL. I met Bryan only once, at the BROL
festival, along with hundreds of people, and we didn't get to talk much.
And other than me sending him a few notes asking to use material from
BROL on Fast Freddy's site, or me pointing out the occasional bad link
on his site, we haven't communicated much in private either.

Now, as far as the alleged censorship, I have posted several messages
critical of Bacchetta on that board, including a copy of my original
complaint about them - (see
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent/msg/e0779165557024b2)
- Bacchetta is a major sponsor of BROL, and I understand that both Bryan
and Jose are good friends with many of the Bacchetta company owners.
Yet my messages were not censored. Not a single one. Even the ones
when I was criticizing BROL's review of the Bacchetta bikes weren't
censored. So for anyone to say they censor people that are critical of
their advertisers is quite a bit of a stretch.

Well, everyone does what you advocate above. But it is also important to
have a decent respect for the opinions of those who have come before us and
to take them into account. The world did not begin with you and it will not
end with you either. We are all of us just middle men.

Varney is not up to generalities. He should always stick to specifics. When
it come to generalities he loses himself and the thread of what anyone has
ever said. He is a nuts and bolts kind of guy. He is not a philosopher and
intellectual who is capable of big thoughts. I feel guilty for having led
him out of his depth on so many occasions. Well, what can you expect of
someone who dresses up like Santa Claus and has never yet been known to act
his age.

But Varney, like all liberals, only knows how to call someone a liar. That
is always the last refuge of a scoundrel and a knave.

How much more specific do you want it, Dolan? You refuse to stand behind
what you have posted. You claim "sui generis" instead. You claim that I have
taken a particular position, but when faced with the fact that I haven't, you
then slap a label on me and say I have "back pedaled" from some position that I
haven't taken, but some vague group has.
The only depths you have been in, Dolan, are ones of ignorance and hatred.
You have told us, though, just why you hate people so much: because you believe
that they are like you, stupid and ignorant.
I know lots of things, Dolan, and that's a result of learning from those who
have come before me, as well as learning from my own experiences. And when I
call you a liar, it is for one reason: that's what you are. It has nothing to
do with a "last refuge". It's a fact. Just as you are a bigot and glory in your
ignorance and hatred of everyone, you are a liar. Specific enough for you, Dolan?

Given the choice of being a sheep or a wolf, some of us will remain
wolves on alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent. (Hi $kip) Numerically, sheep
generally outnumber wolves.

People in the US need to grow up about sex. It is neither inherently
immoral or disgusting. Chastity in and of itself is not a virtue,
despite the bleatings of "religious" control freaks (who delibertely
misinterpret the Bible to suit their own purposes).

If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

********, Sherman. This has nothing to do with being a sheepr or a wolf, but
of behaving in a civilized manner. BROL has very few rules, and trying to
excuse the contemptible behavior of the MI crowd by comparing them to wolves,
does a disservice to wolves.

Again, ********. This has nothing to do with sex, but with the childish
behavior of those who would attack someone by claiming that they're homosexual,
along with attacking their wives.

Nothing to do with heat at all, Sherman. But it is disappointing to see you
supporting the vulgarities and childish behavior of these people, and then try
to obfuscate it as being some sort of "sheep and wolves" scenario. It is
beneath you.

Larry you aren't laughing are you. In fact I sense angry emoticons.

I don't hate brol. Whatever gave you that idea? I don't recall any one on
arbr ever saying they hated brol. You are the one who came to arbr a day or
two ago and used the term a "cesspool of hate". You are taking all this way
too seriously Larry.

I do read brol however infrequently. And have no problem with it. I will
admit that due to my perverse nature (that's not, repeat not, the same as a
perverted nature) I always seem to be more interested in the threads Bryan
doesn't want on the board than I am in the "Were you ever a paperboy" kind
of threads. Brol has its place and I like it in its place. I do see what I
consider condescending remarks about arbr when I'm there, but its fine as
long as they stay there. I don't respond to those remarks or post to brol
because I'm sure it would be only a matter of time until Bryan banned me
which he would have every right to do. To my way of thinking there are no
free speech issues on private property. But if you are posting these kinds
of remarks on arbr then you are, as the Kerry campaign said about Mary
Cheney, fair game.

When MI closed down Johnny NoCom showed up and suddenly all these brol
regulars came on to arbr like a so many killer bees. So I went to brol to
see what all the excitement was about. Apparently Bryan had gotten them
"revved up" by telling them people were posting "nasty things" on arbr.

As a final note let me say I have a kill file, but no one has ever been in
it. Someone would have to be some kind of a super pest for me to kill file
them. Neither you nor Bryan will ever qualify. So the kill filing will be
up to you.
